The Lycoming County SPCA turns 125 this year. That’s 125 years of connecting best friends and caring for homeless and abandoned pets. What a milestone! While there are special events going on all year, the celebration culminates on Tuesday night, June 13, with a grand Gala at the Williamsport Country Club.
The much-anticipated, festive event features the Williamsport Symphony Junior String Quartet, a welcome by Mrs. Joyce Hershberger, our Board President, and Gabriel Campana, Williamsport Mayor. Then, guests will enjoy a scrumptious, sit-down meal, complete with entree choices of filet mignon, crab cake, or a vegetarian option. The highlight of the event is the Keynote Speaker, New York Times bestselling-author, Mr. Garth Stein. Stein wrote the widely popular book, The Art of Racing in the Rain, which features a dog seeking to become a human in the next life as its main character.
Following the keynote, a book signing will be available with Mr. Stein.
The general public is cordially invited to attend and be our guests as we celebrate the thousands of lives, animal and human, that have been graciously touched through the many hands at the SPCA over the last 125 years. If you’re an animal lover, you won’t want to miss this heart-warming evening!
The event kicks off at 6:00 p.m. and culminates at 8:00 p.m.
