DESCRIPTION:The SPCA holiday store at the Lycoming Mall is now open! \nLocated near the carousel\, the store features wonderful Christmas presents for animals and animal-lovers alike. Adoptable pets from the SPCA will be on hand at times\, too. It is a great way to cross items off of your Christmas list and support the Lycoming County SPCA at the same time. \nThe store will be open during regular mall hours from Thursday\, November 23rd to Monday\, December 24th. The store is also open throughout the year for special monthly adoption weekends on the third weekend of every month. \nThank you to our community partners at the Lycoming Mall for allowing our SPCA to have a storefront through the holidays! \n

DESCRIPTION:Come join Trinity Farm for a unique 2-mile nature walk (or 1/2-mile for the less experienced)\, to benefit the Lycoming County SPCA.  Trinity Farm is set in the beautiful rolling hills of Pennsdale and will offer pets and humans alike a refreshing time of being out in the autumn splendor.  Afterward\, enjoy food\, vendors\, music\, a hayride\, AND adoptable pets from the SPCA. It will be a good time! \n \nRegistration will begin at 12:00 p.m.\, with the walk beginning at 12:30 p.m. Registration costs $25.00 for an individual or $40.00 for a group of two or three. We welcome all leashed and immunized pets who have a current PA Dog License. One pet per human handler\, please. \nRegistration can be sent in prior to the event\, or you can register day-of. Putts Fore Paws may be just the event for you. \nEnjoying its 2nd year\, Putts Fore Paws is a charity golf tournament for the benefit of the Lycoming SPCA. Held at White Deer Golf Complex\, Putts Fore Paws consists of a 4-person scramble. There will be three divisions: Men\, Women and Mixed Foursomes. (The number of places paid depends on the number of participants). $75.00 per player covers all required fees and includes morning coffee\, goodies\, and a luncheon. DESCRIPTION:*UPDATE*  This event has been postponed due to conditions on the golf course.  We will inform you of the new date as soon as it is decided. \n— \nEnjoy golf? Love animals? Putts Fore Paws may be just the event for you. \nEnjoying its 2nd year\, Putts Fore Paws is a charity golf tournament for the benefit of the Lycoming SPCA. Held at White Deer Golf Complex\, Putts Fore Paws consists of a 4-person scramble. There will be three divisions: Men\, Women and Mixed Foursomes. (The number of places paid depends on the number of participants). $75.00 per player covers all required fees and includes morning coffee\, goodies\, and a luncheon. Skill prizes will be awarded for “closest to the pin” and others (TBA). \nRegistration & Coffee: 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. \nShotgun Start: 9:30 a.m. \nRegister by May 15th \nSponsor a hole at the Tournament (pg 2) \nWe give a big thank you to Barb Michael for putting this event together for us. DESCRIPTION:Our popular annual run/walk is family AND pet-friendly. We have walking and running divisions for people only or people participating with their pets! \nThe unique 2.5-mile run/walk and 5-mile run benefit the Lycoming County SPCA and caters to runners\, walkers\, and pet/human teams alike. All participants utilize the same course\, which loops through the South Williamsport Community Park and Little League International’s baseball stadiums. Both the 2.5 and 5-mile run contain a short but steep climb up and around Little League International’s Headquarters and back down for an unforgettable view that makes the climb all worthwhile. And what would a dog-friendly event be without a division for dogs participating with their humans? SUMMARY:Raise the Region
DESCRIPTION:Join us again for another fun year as we participate in FCFP’s popular 30-hour online fundraising event! \nThe event was created by The First Community Foundation Partnership (FCFP) of Williamsport to help the communities of Columbia\, Lycoming\, Montour\, Northumberland\, Snyder\, and Union counties support their local nonprofit organizations’ fundraising efforts.  Each online gift is strrretched by a generous contribution from Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships.  Donors can also help raise additional support for the shelter by competing to win us stretch grants and monetary prizes (such as the largest number of gifts given at the dinner hour between 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.)  All gifts are tax-deductible.  It is a fun event that we all look forward to every year! \n*The prize we are “going for” this year is the:  Subaru’s Rise & Shine Prize – the nonprofit with the most unique donors between 6:00 am and 8:00 am on March 15th (Large category nonprofit will receive $1\,000.  Small category nonprofit will receive $1\,000). \nThe event starts online at 6:00 pm on March 14th and runs until midnight on Thursday\, March 15th.  During this time\, online gifts can be given to the Lycoming County SPCA at raisetheregion.org.  \nBy supporting the Lycoming County SPCA\, you are helping our region’s only open admission shelter\, who also has the authority to investigate and prosecute animal cruelty cases.  THANK YOU\, for all you do to care for homeless\, abandoned and mistreated animals. SUMMARY:#Giving Tuesday
DESCRIPTION:Donate Today \nGiving Tuesday is an international day of giving. It is celebrated the Tuesday after Thanksgiving\, following the popular shopping days of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Our shelter has been participating in Giving Tuesday since 2015. \n#GivingTuesday also kicks off the charitable season\, when people focus on holiday and end-of-year giving to their favorite non-profits. In 2016\, 40\,000 nonprofits around the world raised over $168 million on #GivingTuesday. This year\, we are asking loyal donors to help us step up our efforts. In addition to making a gift on November 28th\, we are asking donors to share their passion for giving to the Lycoming County SPCA with friends and family who also love animals. \nOur goal is to raise over $100\,000 for our operating budget and to replenish the Joyce Hershberger Medical Fund with $10\,000. \nWhy are we seeking these funds?  We have been challenged by an influx of animals requiring extensive medical care which has strained our budget for medications and veterinary care.  Stanley is just one example of how medical and surgical care has added to our costs. \nStanley recovering after surgery.  Each day\, shelter staff gently help Stanley with his daily care as he makes his way toward recovery. Stanley is just one of the thousands of animals the Lycoming County SPCA serves each year. \nStanley (bottom right) is a resident in one of our two cat quarantine rooms where cats receive specialized medical attention. \nThis affectionate cat developed a prolapsed colon.  Rather than euthanize this sweetheart\, Stanley received veterinary care amounting to $982!  That figure does not include the daily care given by the staff to keep him healthy.  Stanley is still at the shelter being monitored and cared for until we can release him for adoption.  With thousands of animals coming through our doors every year\, you can see why your help is so vital. \nTo learn more about this relatively new event\, visit givingtuesday.org. SUMMARY:SPCA Holiday Storefront Open @ Lycoming Mall
DESCRIPTION:The SPCA Holiday Kiosk has become a tradition at the Lycoming Mall. Selling goodies for humans and pets alike\, the kiosk is a great place to pick up stocking stuffers and support the Lycoming County SPCA. \nThis year\, we are excited to expand our holiday presence in the mall by occupying a corner storefront. The increased space gives us the opportunity to offer a wider array of pet items\, as well as have a larger venue to host adoptable pets. Located near the carousel\, the storefront features large cut-outs of dogs adopted from the Lycoming County SPCA\, as well as t-shirts and displays where cuddly kittens scamper. You can’t miss it! \nThe storefront will open for regular mall hours from November 24th through December 24th\, followed by an on-going adoption event held the first weekend of every month. \nThank you to our community partners at the Lycoming Mall for allowing our SPCA to have a storefront through the holidays!

DESCRIPTION:The Lycoming County SPCA presents our 16th annual auction and dessert-tasting fundraiser at the historic Genetti Grand Ballroom!  This sell-out event is our single largest fundraising event of the year.  Doors open at 6:30 p.m.\, with the event kicking off at 7:00 p.m. \nFeaturing: \n\nCanine Red Carpet Stroll\nScrumptious Local Desserts\nVideo Tribute to Adopted Friends\nSilent & Live Auctions (View a sneak peek of some of the items!)\nDoor Prizes\n\nTen area dessert chefs will showcase their desserts while guests sample their creations and bid on 100 silent auction items.  The highlight of the evening is the “Red Carpet Stroll”.  A handful of recently adopted animals will walk the red carpet with their new forever people and share their adoption story with our celebrity emcees.  This event embodies the mission of our shelter and is a celebration of the animals\, volunteers\, supporters\, and staff. \nTake a sneak peek at a sampling of the live and silent auction items. \nRSVP is closed. \nLimited tickets are available at the door. \nAll guests will receive a drink ticket\, dessert samplings\, coffee service\, and a bidding number for the silent and live auctions.

DESCRIPTION:The Lycoming County SPCA\, iHeart Media\, and Splash Cove Pool present Maggie’s Dog Swim Night at Splash Cove\, Memorial Park\, Williamsport. The event will be held Thursday\, September 7th\, from 6:00 to 8:30 PM! \nAn additional Maggie’s Dog Swim Day will be held in combination with our 12th annual Pet Expo on Saturday\, September 9th\, from 12:00 to 4:00 PM. Water sports and safety demonstrations will accompany Maggie’s Dog Swim on Saturday\, including how to stand-up paddleboard with your dog and more. \nThe cost for the Dog Swim is $10 for one day or $15 for both. \n— \nWater Safety Tips\, in memory of Maggie \nMaggie \nMaggie’s Dog Swim is in memory of Maggie\, a four-year-old lab who passed away from water intoxication in the summer of 2016. Maggie was an experienced swimmer who enjoyed boating\, family vacations at the beach\, and anything that involved water and her people. \nIn memory of Maggie\, dogs attending Maggie’s Dog Swim will receive a water-safe pet throw compliment of Maggie’s friends and family. \nWe also encourage you to observe the following Water Safety Tips: \n\nLimit Play Time. Frequent breaks allow your dog to rest and get rid of extra water ingested during water play. Limit time in the water to 15-20 minutes at a time.\nUse Flat Toys that Float. Round toys that force your dog to open his mouth wide or go under water to retrieve should be avoided.\nMonitor your Dog. Lean\, high-energy and hyper-focused dogs are at risk for taking in too much water.\nLife Jackets for Pets. If your pet spends a lot of time in the water\, a life jacket is a good idea. And all occupants of a boat should wear a life jacket – pets included.\nApply Sunscreen. Dogs can sunburn\, too\, especially the light-colored\, thin-haired breeds. The most common areas to burn include the tips of the ears and the bridge of the nose.\nTeach your Pet How to Exit the Water. Show your dog where the steps are so that he will be able to exit on his own if he is tired. Practice getting in and out of the water with him several times.\n\nLicensed and leashed pets who are up to date on their immunizations are invited. One pet per handler\, please.
